Lyda Lapointe is great-granddaughter to "White Feather", Marie GOUIN. Marie's mother was a Potawatomie Indian; her father was Charle François GOUIN of Fort Détroit. Marie married François LAVOIE, 1805. Their son, Charles LAVOIE, married Catherine ROBIDEAU in 1833. Their daughter Mary LAVOIE (LAVOY) married David LAPOINTE, son of François LAPOINTE and Angelina PIETTE. Lyda (Lydia) married Menrod GAYNIER in 1897. All of these marriages took place in Monroe County, Michigan. (10)(12)
